The State of Research
Since its inception the Association has encouraged the genealogical research into the Bourgeois' of Acadian Descent. Over the years this has resulted in the three major outputs.
- Mr. Paul-Pierre Bourgeois, the late editor of the bulletin “le bourgeois”, wrote a book for the first family gathering (i.e., Les Retrouvailles) of 1994, entitled “À la recherche des Bourgeois d'Acadie” , which provided a basic foundation for understanding our Bourgeois genealogy.
- Mr. Perron of France, a member of our Association since its inception, put a lot of effort into definitively identifying the father of Jacques Jacob Bourgeois. Based on his research we suspect that Jacques’ mother was Marguerite Bourgeois and that his father was probably a Grandjehan (surname). (See documents attached to Jacques Jacob Bourgeois files
- Mr. Marc Bourgeois created the internet site "History-de-Bourgeois.ca" which exposes his research on the descendants of Jacques Jacob Bourgeois. The site which was officially launched in December 2008 now contains over 16,000 Bourgeois descendants of Jacques Jacob Bourgeois and Jeanne Trahan and several thousand photos and images of people, thumbstones and obituaries.
